Academies are newly-established state schools which receive their funding directly from central government. Some replace existing schools, while others, like Chelsea Academy, are brand new.
All academies have one or more sponsors. We have two. One is the Church of England's London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS). This means the Academy has a distinctive Christian ethos, but still positively welcomes students from all faiths and backgrounds. Church of England schools have a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, and we aspire to continue this tradition. The LDBS has already sponsored two brand-new academies in North London, both of which have opened on schedule, attracted excellent staff, and have been popular with parents right from the start.
Chelsea's other sponsor, unusually, is the local authority, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. They are sponsoring the Academy in recognition of the significant need for additional secondary school places in the area. The Royal Borough too has an excellent reputation for the standard of its schools.
As a result, we can offer your child an excellent, innovative education with the highest of standards and aspirations for both academic success and personal achievement.
