Theatre Trip

Year 9 drama students were treated to their first GCSE theatre trip in January. We travelled to The Apollo Victoria Theatre to see the long-running spectacular ‘Wicked’. This extravagant musical re-tells the story of the Wizard of Oz from the point of view of the ‘Wicked’ witch of the west. Having watched the film in lessons the Year 9 students could really see how clever the story is and that it really does change your perspective of the film. With life-affirming messages about racism, oppression and judging others, the students were really able to look deeper into the theatrical form. Every single Yr 9 drama student attended the trip and all showed exemplary behaviour – so much so that members of the public commented on how wonderful it was to see the group at the theatre.
