26 May Year 7 trip to Imperial College

Two of our year 7 science classes took part in an exciting, high profile, event at Imperial College Friday 20th May, accompanied by Dr Doyle, Mr Edmonds, Mrs Gill and Mr Dy. They attended a lecture given by Dr Simon Foster about space travel, which was also broadcast live on the internet. Our students witnessed amazing science demonstrations and asked a number of excellent questions that caught the attention of VIP guests who were present at the event.

The highlight was when our students and teachers were given the opportunity to meet several European astronauts, including the UK’s very own Helen Sharman, who is the first British astronaut as well as the first woman to visit the Mir space station.

The day was rounded off with a lovely picnic lunch under Imperial College’s Queen’s Tower on a bright sunny afternoon. Our students were grateful for such an amazing opportunity and were fantastic ambassadors for the Academy. A special thanks to Dr Doyle for organising the trip.
