So far this year, we in the Drama Department have enjoyed two pieces of theatre from very different ends of the theatrical spectrum.
Firstly, we had the pleasure of escorting a group of Year 7 and 8 students to the Lyceum in London’s West End to see Disney’s ‘The Lion King’. It was really fantastic to see these young students’ reactions to the amazing show. In particular, some students had never been to the theatre before, so it was a real privilege to give them this opportunity.
Secondly, we took a group of more experienced theatre-going students to see Headlong Theatre’s production of George Orwell’s classic ‘1984’. This was a challenging piece of theatre that really served to broaden students’ horizons. Amazing staging and performances really served to enhance the great story and we hope this experience will influence students’ own practical work going forward.
